Our Walks and Workshops
Please check our calendar for REGULAR walks and BEGINNERS workshops which typically occur every six weeks. We tend to run classes in line with school term times so please scroll to the next month if necessary. Private one-to-one lessons and small group workshops are available all year round.

“I started Nordic walking with a friend as we wanted some aerobic exercise to help us stay healthy and active. The exercises and walking are invigorating and good fun. Afterwards I feel energised and that I am walking taller. I try not to miss a class whatever the weather!” Anne

Katharine Green
Having grown up in North Norfolk and spent her childhood on horseback Katharine has always loved the countryside. After having knee issues from running, she was particularly attracted to the low impact elements of Nordic Walking and the proven benefits to her posture. As a full body workout Nordic Walking gave her everything running did and so much more.
Katharine loves helping and inspiring her walkers to improve their overall health through their Nordic Walks. She has also been surprised by the extent of the holistic benefits, seeing first hand that the more time you spend in nature the more you observe and absorb it. Above all, she’s loves the fact that many of her walkers have formed lasting friendships and get so much pleasure from their Nordic Walking.
She walks on Monday and Wednesday mornings in Nowton Park and on Thursday mornings in the countryside surrounding Bury St Edmunds. Private one-to-one and small groups can be arranged anytime.
She qualified as a British Nordic Walking instructor in 2014 and has the YMCA Fitness level 2 in Walking.
“Nordic Walking has been a really positive experience. Katharine is a skilled, patient and enthusiastic teacher. Give it a try: it’s good for you and you’ll make new friends too.” Bob
Mary Fulton
Mary’s love of walking comes from a lifetime of holidays spent tramping up and down the Lakeland fells and daily walks with her two cockerpoos. When she discovered Nordic Walking and the ability to turn her walk into a workout she realised how beneficial it was as an all round exercise and was immediately hooked.
She is a big believer in the mantra ‘Use it or lose it’ and loves the fact that Nordic Walking improves the quality of life and everyday functional activity of many of her regular walkers.
She enjoys sharing her passion by teaching others and spreading the word about this sociable form of exercising while enjoying the outdoors in all its glorious seasons. To that end, she hosts Walking on Air, the podcast for Nordic Walkers everywhere. The podcast earned her two awards: Inspiration of the Year in the community sport and recreation awards and Podcast of the Year in the UK Coaching awards.
She qualified as a British Nordic Walking instructor in 2014 and also holds the YMCA Fitness level 2 in Walking.
Not Just Walking…
The pleasure of exercising outdoors is so much greater than in a gym, and doing everything in a group helps motivation and turns the class a social event at the same time. After the exercises I feel that I’ve had a full body workout, and as Mary’s programme includes emphasis on different parts of the body, one can concentrate on the areas which need stretching or strengthening most. Having started a few years ago, I can’t imagine stopping now! A Smith
